Mailhook
Mailhook is a trigger node that lets you start a flow when an email is received. Any email sent to the mailhook address triggers the flow, with its metadata and content included in the payload for processing.
Use mailhooks in Lamatic.ai (opens in a new tab) to build email-driven automations e.g. support ticket routing, inbox parsing, or notifications without polling or manual steps.
Mailhook overview
- Trigger node: The mailhook acts as the entry point of your flow; when an email arrives, the flow runs.
- Unique email address: Each mailhook has a dedicated inbound email address. Messages to this address start the flow.
- Rich payload: Every triggered run receives the full email in the payload: metadata (from, to, subject, date, etc.) and body content, so downstream nodes can process it.
Setting up a Mailhook
-
Create or open a flow
In your Lamatic dashboard, create a new flow or open an existing one. -
Add the Mailhook node
In the nodes panel, search for Mailhook (or "mail hook") and add it as the trigger node for your flow. -
Get your mailhook address
After adding the node, copy the unique email address shown for this mailhook. This is the address that will trigger the flow. -
Build your flow
Add nodes after the mailhook to process the payload—e.g. parse subject/body, call an LLM, send replies, or update external systems. -
Deploy the flow
Deploy the flow so the mailhook is active. Incoming emails to the mailhook address will then trigger runs.
Payload schema
When an email triggers the flow, the mailhook node passes a payload with the following structure. Use it in later nodes or your trigger node’s output reference) to drive logic, extract data, or generate responses.
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
webhookId | string | Unique identifier for the mailhook. |
to | string | Recipient address (the mailhook inbox). |
from | string | Sender email address. |
subject | string | Email subject line. |
text | string | Plain-text body of the email. |
html | string | HTML body of the email (if present). |
attachments | array | List of attachments (e.g. files) on the email. |
Example payload:
{
"webhookId": "string",
"to": "string",
"from": "string",
"subject": "string",
"text": "string",
"html": "string",
"attachments": []
}Using your Mailhook
- Share the address: Send the mailhook email address to users, systems, or forms that should trigger the flow (e.g.
<random_id>@lamatic.dev). - Monitor runs: Check the flow Logs in the dashboard to see triggered runs, inspect payloads, and debug.
- Iterate: Adjust parsing, prompts, or integrations in the flow and redeploy; the same mailhook address keeps working.
Mailhooks give you a simple, event-driven way to turn incoming email into automated workflows on Lamatic.
